Celsius energy drink banned?
The NCAA decided to ban the popular energy drink Celsius after conducting a study which revealed that drinking one bottle is equal to having up to five cups of coffee. Their study proved that Celsius drinks have illegal banned stimulants ginseng, guarana, L-carnitine and taurine.
Celsius drinks are not fully banned by the NCAA. As long as athletes do not consume enough caffeine to receive a positive drug test, they're in the clear.
Celsius is not FDA approved due to its use of guarana which is not FDA approved. There could be more caffeine in a Celsius can than 200 mg due to the use of guarana. What's more, drinking Celsius could lead to positive drug tests due to its inclusion of amino acids which mimic certain drugs.
The FDA advises that drinking up to 400 mg of caffeine – the equivalent to two 12oz cans of CELSIUS – is safe for most individuals. However, everyone metabolizes caffeine differently, which means that caffeine sensitivity varies from person to person (FDA, 2018).
According to a lawsuit filed in November 2022, Celsius Holdings misled customers about its health claims because the drink contains citric acid, often used as a preservative.

It's an issue with labeling, specifically a line that says Celsius products don't contain preservatives when it, in fact, does have citric acid in the ingredients. While the company insisted that citric acid is used to boost flavor as opposed to preserve it, they did end up agreeing to a settlement.
Increased Risk of Heart Disease: Energy drinks, like Celsius energy drink, contain high levels of caffeine, which can cause an increase in blood pressure and heart rate. Drinking energy drinks daily can lead to an increased risk of heart disease, including irregular heartbeat and high blood pressure.
The settlement stems from lawsuit filed in November, alleging Celsius drinks had misleading labels that said the drink contained "no preservatives" but contained citric acid. The company denied the allegations, saying citric acid was added to products as a flavor and not as a preservative.
The only countries that officially use Fahrenheit as a unit for measuring temperature is the United States, the Liberia and the Cayman Islands. Other parts of the world use both, though Celsius is the standard.
Can Celsius cause a positive drug test?
While Celsius Energy Drink is generally considered safe, it does contain some ingredients that could potentially affect your drug test results. For example, some drug tests may detect caffeine, which is a common ingredient in energy drinks.
Even with all of the questionable ingredients we highlighted in this review, we still consider Celsius to be healthier than commercial energy drinks like Red Bull. Red Bull contains a significant amount of added sugar (26 grams – nearly as much as a Coke), as well as artificial flavors and artificial colors.

A caffeine intake of 200 mg per dose, and up to 400 mg per day, is generally considered safe. Pregnant women should limit their daily intake to 200 mg or less.
Celsius Holdings, Inc. has agreed to a settlement after being accused of misleading labeling. Customers alleged that cans of Celsius featured a “no preservatives” disclaimer even though they contained citric acid. The company contended the citric acid was added for flavor and not being used as a preservative.
Rapper Flo Rida won $82.6 million after suing energy drink company Celsius.
Hip hop artist Flo Rida, whose real name is Tramar Dillard, was awarded $82.6 million by a south Florida jury on Wednesday after he won a lawsuit against Celsius energy drinks.
Taurine is an amino acid that can lead to a positive drug test. Many of the most common brands also have a high amount sugar, which contributes to the that burst of energy. While caffeine naturally occurs in coffee, it is considered a performance enhancer and is banned by organizations such as the NCAA.
If you've ever purchased a Celsius drink, you could be eligible for up to $250. If you purchased a can of Celsius between Jan. 1, 2015 and Nov. 23, 2022, you could be eligible for compensation.
To receive Settlement benefits, you must complete and submit a Claim Form. Claim Forms can be submitted electronically or mailed to the Class Administrator. A Claim Form must be submitted online or postmarked by February 13, 2023.
Celsius is, however, FDA approved. The FDA is the Food and Drug Administration; they are responsible for protecting the health of the people as well as making certain of our food supply.
When did Celsius go bust?
In June 2022, the company gained notoriety when it indefinitely paused all transfers and withdrawals due to "extreme market conditions", resulting in steep declines in the price of bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. On July 13, 2022, Celsius filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
That's what happened last week when Celsius, a cryptocurrency exchange facing bankruptcy, leaked an enormous collection of its users' transaction data through an unusual sort of privacy breach: a court filing.
CELSIUS is not banned by the NCAA.
Energy drinks are seriously bad for your teeth and contain high levels of sugar and acid. Always drink plenty of water to dilute the acid and don't brush your teeth straight after drinking, because it can spread the acid around your mouth. The best solution is to refrain from energy drinks all together.
The scientific community also uses Celsius for many practices. The numbers Celsius is based around – 0 degrees for freezing and 100 degrees for boiling – are more straight forward and make more sense. Fahrenheit, however, has the benefit of being more precise.
Backed by several clinical trials, drinking CELSIUS prior to fitness activities is proven to accelerate metabolism, burn body fat and provide essential energy.

99 percent of countries on Earth use Celsius to measure temperature, but the US doesn't - why? Arbitrary, and for most of the world very confusing, Fahrenheit temperature measurement is a rod the US uses to beat its own back.
Hospitals and science labs use Celsius because it is an International standard. Actually the Kelvin is the international standard temperature scale, but that is a whole other story. Most temperature measurements are carried to tenths or hundredths of a degree Celsius.
Why does everyone else use Celsius?
Because with freezing point of water at 0 degrees and boiling point at 100 degrees, Celsius makes sense. Farhenheit, with its seemingly arbitrary freezing and boiling points, is unwieldy and awkward to deal with. That is why all forward looking countries — even the UK — prefer to use Celsius in the 21st century.
Tea, soda, and even energy drinks also can pack caffeine—a diuretic that causes your kidneys to produce more urine, which doesn't play well with OAB, because you're already getting signals that you need to go to the bathroom even when your bladder is empty.
The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) lists stimulants and other nutritional supplements that aren't regulated, which includes guarana, as a banned substance. This is because caffeine in large doses may result in positive drug tests for performance-enhancing drugs.
The caffeine in guarana increases the pressure inside the eye. The increase occurs within 30 minutes and lasts for at least 90 minutes after drinking caffeinated beverages. Heart disease: The caffeine in guarana might cause irregular heartbeat in certain people. Use with caution.
When consumed at the recommended time, before working out or being active, the drink has proven to “energize, accelerate metabolism, and burn body fat and calories,” as it states on the can. On top of that, the average cup of coffee, around 75mg of caffeine, can't even compare to Celsius's 200mg of the stimulant.
One Celsius jar contains the equivalent of two cups of caffeine in average coffee.
Celsius is a pre-exercise supplement drink powered by the unique MetaPlus formula containing good-for-you ingredients, such as Green Tea with EGCG, Ginger, Calcium, Chromium, B Vitamins and Vitamin C, all of which work together to raise metabolism, resulting in a sustained calorie burn while keeping you energized.
- Physical Activity. Drinking caffeine increases adrenaline in the body, and performing a physical activity is the only way to burn it off. ...
- Drinking Water. The first method of working caffeine through the body is to drink water. ...
- Eating Food. ...
- Waiting. ...
- Try New Drinks.
How long does 200mg of caffeine last? The half-life of caffeine can be anywhere from three to seven hours. So, if you drink 200 mg of caffeine, you'd still have 100 mg in your system about five hours later, and a quarter of it about 10 hours later. It can take up to 12 hours for caffeine to fully leave your system.
Around 700 mg is enough to create toxicity in a 150-pound adult, and it takes about 10,000 mg for caffeine to become lethal. Even though you're probably not going to die from caffeine consumption, drinking eight cups of coffee in a day is definitely going too far.
Is Celsius drink FDA approved?
Celsius is, however, FDA approved. The FDA is the Food and Drug Administration; they are responsible for protecting the health of the people as well as making certain of our food supply.
Celsius had promoted its beverages as being free of preservatives, but it turns out the products contain citric acid. The company said the citric acid is used as a flavoring and not as a preservative, but it reached a settlement “to avoid the expense and risks of the lawsuit.”
Celsius has limited options when it comes to making crypto deposits into its wallet app. It doesn't have its own trading exchange, which is a serious drawback. Instead, users can only make in-app crypto purchases using Wyre or Coinify.
Celsius may not be actively harmful, but we certainly don't recommend drinking it regularly. Even with all of the questionable ingredients we highlighted in this review, we still consider Celsius to be healthier than commercial energy drinks like Red Bull.
CELSIUS is packed with 7 essential vitamins, has no artificial colors or flavors, no aspartame and no high fructose corn syrup.
Made with only the best ingredients, CELSIUS has no artificial preservatives or flavors, no aspartame or high fructose corn syrup, and it's very low in sodium.
Issue. G Fuel brand Energy Drinks recalled due to high levels of caffeine. The recalled products have been sold nationally and online.
Celsius agreed to a $7.8 million class action lawsuit settlement to resolve claims it falsely marketed its beverages as containing “no preservatives.” No proof of purchase is needed for class members to benefit from the settlement.
